Hi,
I just cannot understand all those people hopping on a train that stops on every tree like a male dog during a walk.
We have seen some projects failing in the past only because of the wrong language used. One got downsized to the extent that it is a joke. One other project is delayed for more than a year now.
The current status: the response time is some 40 to 60 SECONDS.
There are no small machines behind the szene. There are Sun Fire 6800 machines supported by E450s for simple tasks.
I could not believe that people really believe in things like Java even if they see their own projects going down the drain like this.

Hi Erich,
I don't see any speed problems with the apps we are writing in Java. We even migrated some C++ stuff to Java and it runs even better. We are doing process control and we need to process about 10 data sets per ms. No problem what so ever... We even do the full GUI in Java (with SWING) and it uses about 2%-5% CPU load (with some heavy animations being painted on the screen).
Cheers
